May 2016

The course was split into two halves, the morning session covered traditional on premise Data Centre Infrastructure, and in the afternoon the cloud based off site Azure Infrastructure.

Data Centre Infrastructure covered the following topics

  • Hyper-V Virtualization
  • Software-Defined Storage & Networking
  • Nano Server & Containers

Azure Infrastructure

  • Compute
  • Storage
  • Networking
  • Azure Resource Manager

The instructors on the course (Marcus Robinson @techdiction & Andy Dawson @W4050)  were keen to emphasize that all the subjects discussed were in development and coming soon, so no 2012 R2, just Windows Server 2016 and what new features it can provide.

The day was packed with content, with the instructors going through detailed real world examples where the new technology can be deployed.

The setup at the Met Hotel was first class, air conditioned conference room with fast WiFi and refreshments.

There you go then, a brief outline of the course, be sure to catch parts 2 & 3 where I’ll dive a bit deeper in some of the technology.
