This week (June 27th to July 4th) I’m taking a well-deserved break on the Spanish island, Menorca. It’s my first visit and I have to say the island is stunning, the weather is great, the beer is cold.

Blog: Building a Test Lab – Part 2
In this post, the second of the “Building a Test Lab” series, I’ll run through how to build a virtual machine using VirtualBox. Although this is a relatively straight forward task, there are a few things to bear in mind, such as the size and location of the virtual hard disk (VHD), the amount of RAM you allocate to the virtual machine and what naming convention you should use for your suite of VM’s.

My Tech: Lumia 930 Gets Windows 10 Mobile
On Friday Microsoft released Windows 10 Mobile to a number of Windows Phone 8.1 handsets. On the list of supported handsets was the Lumia 930 which has been my daily driver for the past 8-9 months. Blog: Microsoft Lumia 650, First Impressions
Microsoft latest mid range handset arrived this week, the Lumia 650, which is going to be my wife’s new phone. Upgrading from a Nokia Lumia 520, she is used to Windows Phone, and the 650 should be a nice upgrade for her, and at no extra cost, its a great deal.
My Tech: Microsoft Band 2
My latest item of technology is the Microsoft Band 2. This is my first foray into the world of tech wearables, and the band is primarily a fitness device, with some smart watch capabilities. How I’ll use this device going forward? Who knows, but it will be an interesting journey for sure.

Last week Virgin Media experienced some packet loss on their network, which in turn impacted my surfing experience for a number of hours. After running through some diagnostics on my own devices to confirm the issue was indeed down to Virgin, it occurred to me that it may be a good time to document my network.
